Robinson Dam is a lowhead dam on the North Elkhorn, between Georgetown and Frankfort off of Highway 460 at Robinson Lane. The dam site is public property, and fishing is allowed there. The area is daytime access only. There is a small spot where you can launch a canoe or kayak just above the dam, giving access to the impoundment above. This is a carry-in only spot; it is rocky and there is no ramp. Putting in here allows paddlers to access the pool between Robinson and Great Crossing. Also accessible is Cane Run Creek, which can be paddled upstream for about a quarter mile, depending on water levels.
I’ve written numerous times about Robinson, and I’ve done quite a bit of fishing there. It offers a little of everything–you can fish on foot, you can launch a small boat, you can wade in the summer, and there is a bit of parking.
